Our facility contains two 5 x 10 meter Maxxtracks Ski-Slope Simulators. The slopes are made out of poly-nylon material and function similarly to a treadmill in that there is a revolving carpet. All that's required is a little bit of water and voila! -- you can ski or board just like you would on the hills.
The slope can be adjusted in two ways: speed and angle. For beginners, the angle is set to a minimum and the carpet revolves at a lower speed. But if you're an expert on the hill, our machines can be set to a 20 degree angle and 25 km/h speed. Trust us, your legs will burn like they never have before.
Each lesson lasts one hour, with half of that time dedicated to skiing, and the other half to resting. Our practice is usually ten minutes on-slope followed by ten minutes off-slope. If you are in a lesson with others, half of the class will rest while the other half skis or snowboards, and vice versa.
Our lessons are structured this way to ensure that your muscles are not strained or pulled. An average run on an Ontario hill lasts less than two minutes, and that's if you're on one of the taller ones. Our endless slopes can have you going for hours if you're really up for a challenge.
Our Ability Range
Alpine Slopes is for everyone: first-timers, beginners, intermediates, and experts. Our machines are as versatile as you are.
Beginners learn up to 8x faster on slopes. We provide a safe and stress-free environment. There's no chance of bumping into others on the hill (or others bumping into you!). The speed and angle can be adjusted for your comfort level. There is a metal bar at the front of the slope that you can hold onto while you are learning. Our instructors can stop the slope anytime you feel scared, worried, or are about to fall. Yup, our instructors are trained to watch you and stop the slope before you fall, making your fall as painless as possible.
For more advanced athletes, the opportunity to ski or board endlessly allows you to focus on key areas that need improvement or strengthening. The mirror at the bottom of each slope allows you to see yourself in action in real time - no more pesky recording in the freezing cold! We have many racers, CSIA instructors, and Masters skiers using our facility for training purposes all year round.
